Caprese – Don Costanzo is an Italian restaurant in the basement of 13 Woodside Crescent, between Glasgow city centre and the West End. It opened here in 2011 after the family’s long running Caprese restaurant closed on Buchanan Street, carrying its intimate atmosphere and traditional approach into a new home.
The cooking is grounded in familiar Italian flavours and a home cooked sensibility. Antipasti prepare the way for pasta, meat and seafood dishes, with generous portions and straightforward presentation giving the meal the feel of a traditional neighbourhood trattoria.
Daily specials allow the kitchen to work beyond the printed menu, while vegetarian and gluten free choices help accommodate different diners. A children’s menu and welcoming approach to families make the restaurant practical for a broad range of occasions rather than only formal evenings.
An extensive Italian wine selection supports a leisurely multi course meal, and the basement dining room has a warm, enclosed character. The restaurant also welcomes private dinners, wedding parties and celebrations, retaining the personal hospitality on which the Caprese and Don Costanzo story was built.
