Itaewon Korean Restaurant is a lively restaurant and bar at 43-45 Station Street in Birmingham city centre. Inspired by Seoul's Itaewon district, it combines traditional Korean dishes with barbecue, contemporary street food and handmade cocktails.
Korean barbecue choices such as beef bulgogi and spicy pork bring marinated meat and savoury sauces to the table. Bibimbap offers a rice based alternative, while noodles, curries and other hot dishes make the menu broad enough for diners seeking either familiar comfort food or something new.
Korean fried chicken appears in several forms, alongside dumplings, fried corn dogs and cheese tteokbokki. These smaller dishes work well for sharing, and the balance between chilli, sweetness, fermented flavours and crisp textures gives a mixed order plenty of contrast.
Soju, cocktails, wine and locally brewed beer support the food and reinforce the social character of the room. With bookings for ordinary tables, larger parties and special occasions, Itaewon is well placed for a casual dinner that can continue into drinks.
