Yangguofu Malatang City Centre is the Newcastle branch of the international malatang restaurant group, located on Percy Street. The casual format is built around individual bowls, allowing each diner to shape a warming meal to suit their own appetite and preferred level of richness.
Malatang is defined by the combination of selected ingredients and a flavoured broth or dry mix. This flexible approach lets vegetables, noodles, tofu and proteins come together in different proportions, so two diners can have noticeably different bowls from the same restaurant.
The signature classic herbal beef bone broth is rich and aromatic, while the sweet and sour tomato broth brings a brighter, tangier character. A peanut butter spicy dry mix provides an option without soup, coating the chosen ingredients in a bold blend of nuttiness and heat.
