Thai food in London can mean a steaming bowl of noodles squeezed into a lunch break, a table covered with curries and salads, or a carefully paced tasting menu. The pleasure lies in the differences: the sharpness of lime against rich coconut, the scent of fresh herbs rising from a hot plate, and the smoky edges that a charcoal grill brings to meat and seafood.
There is plenty to explore beyond the familiar green curry and pad Thai. Soho has kitchens drawing on Thailand’s border regions, Highbury has generous sharing dishes, and Earl’s Court offers both a long-established Thai favourite and an entirely vegan restaurant. Around Waterloo and Fitzrovia, smaller cafés make it easy to fit a satisfying Thai meal around the rest of your day.
These London restaurants suit different appetites and occasions, from a lively dinner with friends to a more leisurely celebration. Look through the menus and prices below, choose the part of the city that works for you, and give yourself room to order something unfamiliar alongside an old favourite. Several kitchens change dishes with the seasons, so the available menu is the best starting point for your visit.

Farang
Farang makes a compelling reason to head to Highbury for dinner. Chef Sebby Holmes and his team bring together Thai ingredients and seasonal British produce in food designed to be passed around the table. The menu moves between small, punchy mouthfuls and generous dishes with enough sauce to make rice an essential part of the order. Prawn and pomegranate miang bites introduce the kitchen’s fondness for contrasting textures, while aromatic beef-cheek curry shows its more comforting side.
A good meal here needs variety. Put something crisp and bright beside a rich curry, add a vegetable dish, and leave space for the roti that regular diners are particularly enthusiastic about. The gai prik chicken, with its sweet, hot glaze, is another useful dish to look for. Farang offers sharing and tasting menus as well as à la carte choices, making it approachable whether you want help putting together a feast or prefer to follow your own appetite. It is an especially good fit for friends who enjoy trying a little of everything.

Kiln Soho
At Kiln, the counter brings you close to the heat and movement of the kitchen. Charcoal, clay pots and hot woks shape a menu influenced by the regions where Thailand meets Myanmar, Laos and Yunnan. British meat and dayboat seafood provide much of the substance, with the day’s deliveries helping determine the dishes. The clay-pot glass noodles with pork belly and brown crab remain a natural place to begin: a compact, savoury dish that explains why so many people come here specifically for the noodles.
Build around that with a skewer, a salad and whichever fish or curry catches your attention. Kiln’s food can be intensely hot, so speak to the team if you want guidance on balancing the order. The changing seafood dishes are particularly interesting, whether the kitchen is working with mackerel, shellfish or another catch. This is a lively, close-quarters restaurant suited to a solo meal at the counter or dinner for two. Its walk-in approach means allowing some flexibility, especially when Soho is busy.

Addie’s Thai Cafe
Addie’s is an Earl’s Court address to keep in mind when the priority is a table full of Thai food and good company. Now trading as Addie’s Thai Restaurant, it has a broad menu rooted in the founder’s recipes. Stir-fries, noodle soups and salads provide plenty of choice, but seafood is a particularly rewarding direction. A whole sea bass gives the meal a centrepiece, while the sharper salads add a welcome contrast to richer sauces and fried dishes.
The appeal is the ease of putting together a substantial dinner without turning the occasion into something formal. Start with a couple of dishes to share, choose seafood or a stir-fry for the middle of the table, and use rice to bring the order together. Regular diners speak warmly of the generous portions and friendly team. The menu’s breadth also helps when everyone arrives wanting something different, though it pays to look beyond the most familiar noodle and curry choices. Book ahead when you have a particular evening in mind.

Mali Vegan Thai Restaurant
Mali gives plant-based diners the pleasure of choosing from a whole Thai menu. Tucked into Hogarth Place, the restaurant works with mushrooms, tofu, vegetables and meat alternatives across an unusually broad range of dishes. Shiitake and tofu satay skewers make a good opening, while grilled king oyster mushrooms offer a different texture with a lively dipping sauce. The kitchen’s imagination extends well beyond simply removing meat from familiar recipes.
For a main course, consider the northern yellow curry noodles with tofu and mushrooms, the chickpea massaman, or drunken noodles with vegan duck, holy basil and fresh peppercorns. Pad Thai gains extra texture from crisp bean-curd skin, and the menu also explores richer noodle soups. There is enough variety to make a shared meal interesting for vegans and non-vegans alike. The small courtyard is an appealing bonus when the weather suits, and mango ice cream with sticky rice and coconut jelly makes a cheerful finish.

Champor-Champor
A short walk from London Bridge, Champor-Champor combines Thai and Malay cooking in a dining room full of colour, carved wood and decorative details. Its name suggests mixing and matching, and the food follows that spirit. Thai curries sit alongside Malaysian influences and more individual combinations, making this an appealing choice when you want a menu with a little room for surprise. It is particularly suited to an evening when atmosphere matters as much as the dishes arriving at the table.
A green curry offers a familiar starting point, while seafood dishes and the restaurant’s beef rendang take the meal in different directions. Give the starters some attention too: they are a useful way to explore the kitchen before committing to a larger main. The menu includes vegan choices, and sharing a few plates makes it easier to accommodate different tastes. Expect a sociable, sometimes busy room rather than complete quiet. For a celebration or dinner before exploring the riverside, the location and distinctive setting work well together.

The Great THAI Restaurant
The Great Thai is a useful address just off the shopping streets around Oxford Circus. The Riding House Street restaurant concentrates on Thai street-food favourites, with a menu that gives noodle enthusiasts plenty to consider. Boat noodles have long drawn attention here, and the pink-toned yen ta fo offers another route through the soup section, combining fish balls, prawns, tofu and crisp wonton with morning glory. A bowl can be a complete lunch without needing a large order around it.
For a shared dinner, look towards the chilli-and-basil stir-fries, Thai sausages or deep-fried sea bass with sweet chilli sauce. Pad kee mao brings noodles into a more fiery, aromatic setting, while massaman curry offers something richer and gentler. The restaurant is conveniently placed for a pause during a day in central London, but the menu rewards more than a hurried glance. Decide whether you want a focused noodle meal or several contrasting dishes for the table, and order accordingly. Mango with pandan sticky rice is worth keeping in mind for dessert.

Anglothai
AngloThai offers a more measured, intimate way to explore Thai flavours in Marylebone. John and Desiree Chantarasak’s restaurant draws on John’s British and Thai background, using British produce within a distinctly personal style of cooking. The tasting-menu format gives the kitchen room to move between delicate seafood, concentrated sauces and carefully balanced small courses. Its crab, caviar and coconut-ash cracker is one example of how familiar flavour relationships can be presented in a quite different form.
Seasonality matters here, so think of photographed dishes as an introduction to the kitchen rather than a fixed order for your visit. Grilled chicken with coconut golae and bright pickles illustrates the relationship between richness, smoke and acidity that runs through the cooking. This is an occasion to set aside time and enjoy the sequence, with a wine list chosen to accompany the food. The scale and cost make AngloThai most suitable for a planned treat, especially for diners curious about contemporary interpretations of Thai cuisine.

Maries Thai Cafe
Marie’s Café brings a different sort of energy to a Thai meal. On Lower Marsh near Waterloo, its unpretentious café setting fills with people looking for something satisfying rather than elaborate. The Thai menu covers the dishes that make group ordering easy: curries, stir-fries, noodles, soups and a selection of familiar starters. Chicken satay, fish cakes or spring rolls can start the table while everyone settles on a main course.
A panang curry with rice is a comforting direction, while pad Thai or a spicy noodle dish suits a more straightforward one-plate meal. Recent diners return to the café for its homely flavours and quick service, though the closely packed room can become noisy at busy times. That bustle is part of its everyday character. It makes sense for a casual dinner after work, a catch-up around Waterloo or a meal before heading towards the South Bank. Bring an appetite and a willingness to enjoy a lively room.

Nipa Thai Restaurant
Inside Royal Lancaster London, Nipa Thai offers a gracious hotel setting for a more leisurely meal. Teak furnishings and views towards the greenery outside establish the mood, while the kitchen focuses on traditional Thai cooking. Long-serving head chef Sanguan Parr is particularly associated with pad Thai, and the menu also leaves room for dumplings, soups, seafood and the curries that many diners come here to enjoy.
Begin with a delicately prepared starter before moving towards a fragrant green curry, a richer panang or a fish dish. Tom kha, with chicken and coconut, is another way into the kitchen’s balancing of gentle richness and brighter flavours. Nipa works well for a date, a family occasion or dinner after a day around Hyde Park. The hotel environment makes it a more polished experience than a street-food café, so allow time to settle in, ask about the current specials and choose a few complementary dishes.

Patara South Kensington
Patara’s Fulham Road restaurant provides a comfortable setting for Thai food around South Kensington and Chelsea. The menu is extensive, making it useful for diners who want familiar favourites alongside seafood, salads and more substantial special-occasion dishes. A sharing platter can introduce several different textures through satay, spring rolls, dumplings and fish cakes, while the separate vegetarian selections give the table further options.
The curries are a natural place to spend some time with the menu, particularly if you prefer a generous main course to a succession of small plates. Lamb massaman has drawn recent praise, and pad Thai remains a popular choice for those wanting noodles. Balance a rich curry with vegetables or a sharper salad instead of ordering several similarly creamy dishes. Patara suits a relaxed lunch in the neighbourhood or a planned evening meal when a broad choice matters. Check the branch’s menu below to compare the available dishes and prices.

Final Thoughts
London’s Thai restaurants offer many ways to put together a memorable meal. Farang invites a generous sharing order, Kiln brings smoke and intensity to a Soho counter, and Addie’s rewards an appetite for seafood. Mali opens up an entire menu to plant-based diners, while AngloThai and Nipa create quite different settings for a more considered occasion.
The best choice for your evening may be the restaurant that fits your neighbourhood, budget and appetite. Compare the menus and prices, think about whether you want a bowl of noodles or a table to share, and make room for contrasts: a fresh salad with a rich curry, a crisp starter before something slow-cooked, or a cooling dessert after chilli. That variety is one of the great pleasures of eating Thai food in London.
