Best New Restaurants Near Me In London

London’s newest restaurants reflect a city that continues to absorb culinary traditions from around the world without flattening their individual character. Recent openings have brought ambitious Greek cooking to Borough Market, regional Spanish food to Shoreditch, modern Punjabi dining to the West End and a distinctive meeting of Filipino and European flavours to Kentish Town.

Many of these restaurants are built around confident, highly personal ideas. Some use live fire and carefully sourced produce to create bold sharing dishes, while others draw on family recipes, regional traditions and memories of meals eaten far beyond London. The result is a collection of dining rooms that feel contemporary without becoming interchangeable.

Several are intimate restaurants where reservations can disappear quickly, while others have bars, counter seats or walk in spaces that make a spontaneous visit possible. Whether the occasion calls for a lively group dinner, a serious meal focused on the cooking or a relaxed evening over pasta and wine, these restaurants offer some of the most compelling recent additions to London’s dining scene.

OMA London

OMA occupies an upstairs dining room beside Borough Market, above its more casual sister restaurant, AGORA. The restaurant takes its inspiration from the Greek islands, but its cooking travels freely through the Levant and the wider Mediterranean. Head chef Jorge Paredes uses an open charcoal grill, raw preparations and clay pot cooking to create food with deep smoke, acidity, salinity and warmth. The restaurant received a Michelin star shortly after opening, confirming the precision behind its energetic and seemingly relaxed style.

The menu is designed for sharing and often begins with warm breads, richly seasoned dips and carefully dressed raw seafood. Charcoal grilled fish and meat bring more intensity, while dishes such as spanakopita and giouvetsi are reworked with considerable imagination without losing their essential comfort. OMA’s dining room is industrial but inviting, with warm timber, an open kitchen and views towards the activity of Borough Market. Its extensive wine list concentrates on Greece and other coastal regions, making this a particularly rewarding restaurant for diners interested in lesser known Mediterranean varieties.

Address: 2–4 Bedale Street, Borough Market, London SE1 9AL, United Kingdom

Legado

Legado is chef Nieves Barragán Mohacho’s expansive exploration of Spain and its regional food cultures. Its name means “legacy”, an idea reflected in cooking that draws on traditional dishes while moving beyond the familiar London language of croquetas, tortilla and conventional tapas. The menu travels through mainland Spain and its islands, giving equal attention to seafood, rice, vegetables, offal and carefully prepared meat. Legado was awarded a Michelin star in 2026, only months after opening.

The Shoreditch restaurant combines a spacious main dining room with a more informal taberna for pintxos, small plates and drinks. The larger menu rewards a group willing to share widely. Depending on the season, diners might encounter delicate shellfish, black fideuà, regional rice dishes, chargrilled seafood, milk fed lamb or Segovian suckling pig prepared in the restaurant’s traditional oven. An entirely Spanish wine list, supported by sherry, cava and regional cocktails, gives the experience a strong sense of place. The scale and range of the menu also make Legado the kind of restaurant that benefits from several visits rather than one attempt to see everything.

Ambassadors Clubhouse London

Ambassadors Clubhouse brings the food and celebratory hospitality of Punjab to an extravagant Heddon Street setting. The restaurant draws visual inspiration from the grand party mansions of Northern India, surrounding diners with rich colours, wood panelling, patterned fabrics and softly lit rooms. It became the first Punjabi restaurant in the United Kingdom to hold a Michelin star, recognising a kitchen that places technical precision behind its generous and theatrical presentation.

The food moves between roadside cooking, family recipes and the elaborate feasts associated with Punjab’s palaces and private homes. Charcoal grilled meats, tandoor cooking, layered rice dishes and slow cooked curries form the heart of the menu, with carefully balanced spicing allowing the produce to remain clear. Cocktails and large format drinks reinforce the restaurant’s celebratory character, while private rooms and a late night music space make it particularly well suited to birthdays and group dinners. Despite its lavish surroundings, the most memorable dishes are often those built around familiar Punjabi flavours treated with unusual care.

Address: 25 Heddon Street, London W1B 4BH, United Kingdom

BELLY London

BELLY is a modern neighbourhood bistro that reworks European and French foundations through a distinctly Filipino perspective. Founded by restaurateur Omar Shah, the Kentish Town restaurant uses fermentation, dry ageing, wood fire cooking and slow preparation to build flavour. The combination feels natural rather than forced because Filipino acidity, sweetness, smoke and savoury depth are incorporated into dishes with the structure and generosity of classic bistro cooking.

Seafood is especially important to the menu. Cured scallops might arrive with coconut and chilli, while smoked fish can be treated like kinilaw with citrus and vinegar. BELLY’s much discussed tempura fish pandesal turns the familiar fish sandwich into something richer and more playful, while larger dishes can include seafood caldereta, bistek or seasonal vegetables given similar attention. The compact dining room is warm, candlelit and lively, creating an atmosphere that works equally well for dates and informal celebrations. Michelin Guide recognition and sustained local enthusiasm have helped turn this independent bistro into one of Kentish Town’s most talked about recent openings.

Impala London

Impala is the first solo restaurant from chef Meedu Saad, who developed the idea after leading the kitchen at Kiln. The Soho restaurant is part of the Super 8 group, whose other London venues include Brat, Mountain and Smoking Goat, but Impala has a personality of its own. Saad’s cooking is informed by his Egyptian heritage as well as North African, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean traditions, with additional influences drawn from his broader restaurant experience.

Much of the cooking revolves around a handmade charcoal grill and a wood oven inspired by Egypt’s communal bakeries. Harissa, preserved citrus, dates and carefully sourced British meat and seafood give the menu its foundation. The flavours are bold, smoky and sometimes unexpected, with raw fish, grilled shellfish, slow cooked sheep and dry aged meat appearing alongside warm bread and vegetable dishes. The concrete, timber and low lit interior feels unmistakably Soho, while seats at the kitchen counter place diners close to the fire and movement of the open kitchen. Impala is at its best for diners who enjoy expressive cooking and menus that resist a simple regional label.

Tiella

Tiella gives chef Dara Klein’s regional Italian cooking a permanent home following a successful residency at The Compton Arms. The restaurant occupies a restored former Victorian pub on Columbia Road, where a compact dining room, central bar, open kitchen and outdoor terrace create the feeling of a relaxed neighbourhood trattoria. Klein draws on her Pugliese heritage and childhood in Emilia Romagna, combining Italian traditions with seasonal produce from Britain.

The menu is concise and changes with the seasons, but its character is grounded in hand worked pasta, braised dishes, excellent vegetables and generous plates intended for the middle of the table. Rustic preparations such as pasta and beans, meatballs, passatelli in broth and chicken Milanese demonstrate the kitchen’s preference for comfort and clarity over unnecessary decoration. Tiella feels personal because the food is tied closely to Klein’s family history, including memories of the trattoria run by her parents. Warm service, a bustling walk in bar and a thoughtfully selected Italian wine list complete a restaurant that already feels at home on Columbia Road.

Final Thoughts

London’s recent restaurant openings show how much can be achieved when chefs begin with a specific point of view. OMA and Impala use fire to produce very different expressions of Mediterranean and North African cooking, while Legado and Tiella explore regional European traditions at opposite ends of the dining spectrum. Ambassadors Clubhouse embraces abundance and celebration, while BELLY demonstrates how inventive cooking can still feel rooted in the rhythms of a neighbourhood bistro.

These restaurants are worth choosing according to the occasion as much as the cuisine. Legado and Ambassadors Clubhouse suit a group prepared to share generously, OMA offers a lively destination meal beside Borough Market, BELLY and Tiella provide intimate neighbourhood experiences, and Impala captures the energy of a night in Soho. Reservations are advisable, particularly for smaller dining rooms and peak evening services, but several venues retain bar or counter seating for more spontaneous visits.
