Chettinad Restaurant Leicester is a South Indian restaurant at 146C London Road. Its identity comes from the cooking of Chettinad in Tamil Nadu, presented in a relaxed dining room where food and warm service take priority over unnecessary formality.
Dishes are prepared to order and use the bold spices, curry leaves, coconut and aromatic ingredients associated with southern Indian home cooking. The menu offers a different perspective from a conventional British curry house while remaining accessible to diners exploring the cuisine for the first time.
Dosa and other regional starters sit alongside chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetable curries. Biryani, flavoured rice and breads make it easy to assemble a shared meal, with contrasting gravies and spice profiles across the selection.
The restaurant serves lunch and dinner through the week, with continuous daytime and evening service on Saturday and online ordering available. Drinks accompany the food. Guests with allergies should discuss dairy, gluten, nuts, mustard, sesame and shared preparation areas with staff before ordering.
