Shababs Balti Restaurant is a long-established restaurant at 163–165 Ladypool Road in Birmingham’s Balti Triangle. Founded in 1987, it remains one of the area’s original balti houses and continues to focus on the cooking style that made the district famous.
Balti is cooked over a high flame in a carbon steel bowl and served in the same vessel, preserving heat and concentrating the spices and sauce. Fresh breads are a natural accompaniment, used to scoop the dish directly from the bowl.
Traditional curries, masalas, biryanis and special dishes broaden the menu beyond the signature balti. Diners can eat in, order for collection or delivery, and larger functions can be arranged in a private room or through outside catering.
The restaurant is unlicensed but allows guests to bring their own alcohol, while soft drinks and coffee are sold on site. It opens daily from noon until late. Guests with allergies or dietary requirements should confirm ingredients and preparation with staff.
