Maria’s Greek Taverna is a family run restaurant at 68 Crwys Road in Cardiff. Since 2018 it has brought the warm, informal character of a Greek taverna to Cathays, with generous plates and a dining room suited to family meals, friends and celebrations.
Meze is central to the experience, allowing a table to combine several starters and discover different flavours together. The menu’s sharing offer reinforces that approach, while freshly prepared dips, vegetables, cheese and other small dishes provide variety before the grills arrive.
Charcoal cooking gives the main dishes their direct, savoury character. Souvlaki choices include chicken and pork skewers, while gyros, loukaniko sausage and halloumi can also be served in Greek pita wraps with salad, tzatziki and fries.
A three course dine-in option and island inspired drinks encourage a longer meal, while collection is available for eating at home. The restaurant also welcomes private hire enquiries, extending its hospitable style to group occasions without losing the relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere.
