Tonkotsu Mare Street is a ramen restaurant at 382 Mare Street in the heart of Hackney. A long zinc topped bar gives the room the energy of a Japanese inspired noodle bar, with space held for walk ins as well as advance bookings.
Ramen is the centre of the menu, combining noodles made in house with broths developed for richness, clarity and depth. Different bowls adjust the balance of pork, chicken, vegetables, spice and aromatic toppings while preserving the essential relationship between noodle and soup.
Gyoza, katsu curry and smaller side dishes provide alternatives and additions for sharing. Making noodles, broths and several accompaniments from scratch gives the kitchen control over texture and seasoning from the first bite to the bottom of the bowl.
The bar holds a notably broad Japanese whisky selection alongside sake, beer and alcohol free drinks. Tonkotsu Mare Street is a useful choice before a local cinema, concert or night out, offering a focused meal that can be quick without feeling rushed.

Tonkotsu

Geki Kara (Extra Hot!)
Japanese for ‘fiery hot’, the GK means business. Pork broth, thin-cut noodles, soy sauce base, scotch bonnet mash, roast pork belly, 1/2 egg & kikurage.
