Lunya Liverpool combines a Catalan restaurant, bar and deli at the corner of Hanover Street and College Lane in Liverpool One. Open since 2010, the employee owned business is shaped by regular travel through Catalunya and the rest of Spain. Hanging jamón, shelves of artisan produce and an informal dining room give visitors several ways to engage with the food.
Tapas are broad and expressive, bringing Spanish and local ingredients together. Signature dishes include sobrasada with whipped goat’s cheese and honey, Catalan scouse with chorizo and morcilla, crisp chicken with mojo picón, and bravas enriched with cheese and chorizo. Calamari, charred vegetables, salads and fritters allow the table to balance richer plates with fresher flavours.
Larger dishes and preorder specialities make the restaurant suitable for a complete feast as well as a few small plates. Suckling pig, thick cut txuleton steak and chicken cooked with Moritz beer show the kitchen’s interest in Spanish celebration food. Seasonal changes and daily specials keep the extensive menu connected to supplier availability and the chefs’ current ideas.
Spanish wine, cava, sherry, vermouth, beer and sangria are integral to the experience, and the deli lets diners take cheeses, cured meats and pantry ingredients home. Most of the menu is gluten free or can be adapted, and children have a dedicated selection.
