Old Moseley Arms is a back street pub and Indian eatery at 53 Tindal Street in Balsall Heath, Birmingham. Open fires, a large beer garden, sports screens and a function room give it the practical versatility of a well used local. The kitchen and bar have equally strong identities, making it as natural to visit for dinner as for a pint.
A tandoori clay oven operates seven days a week, producing chicken, lamb, kebabs and mixed grills with smoke and spice. Curries range from familiar masala and balti styles to richer house preparations, supported by rice, naan and other breads. Generous mixed platters are designed for families or groups who want to share several grilled items.
Vegetable samosas, onion bhaji, aubergine, potato and mushroom pakora form a substantial meat free platter, while vegetable curries provide further choice. Eat in and takeaway use the same broad Indian menu, and orders are placed at the bar. Guests with allergies should speak with staff because nuts, dairy and other allergens may appear in both curry and grill dishes.
Real ale is a defining feature, with several permanent hand pulls and a changing guest beer joined by lager, cider, spirits and soft drinks. The traditional pub atmosphere creates an unusual but comfortable setting for authentic Indian food.
