Athugala Ceylon is a Sri Lankan restaurant at 251 Two Mile Hill Road in Bristol. The relaxed dining room brings the flavours of Ceylon to the city through traditional rice dishes, curries, street-food favourites and food designed for sharing.
Lamprais is a defining choice, combining yellow rice, meat, jackfruit, aubergine curry, potato curry, a cutlet and fried egg inside a banana leaf. String hoppers offer a different staple, using fine steamed rice noodles as a base for the diner’s chosen curry.
Chicken kottu chops flatbread together with vegetables, onion and cooked chicken, while rice and curry brings basmati rice, egg, a meat curry and vegetable curries onto one plate. Mutton rolls, fish cutlets and dhal vadai make useful smaller dishes before the main meal.
Devilled prawns, fried rice and noodles add further variety, with spice levels and textures moving from crisp snacks to rich sauces. Guests with allergies or dietary requirements should discuss the current ingredients, preparation methods and possible substitutions with staff.
