Double 00 Chorlton is an independent pizzeria on Barlow Moor Road. The informal dining room is centred on handmade Neapolitan pizza, with bookings available for table service and collection offered directly from the restaurant. Guests may bring their own alcoholic drinks, giving the evening a particularly relaxed neighbourhood character.
Dough is made on site each day from flour, water, salt and yeast, then fermented for at least 48 hours. Each base is stretched by hand, topped with Italian ingredients and baked for less than 90 seconds at about 450 degrees in a wood fired oven brought from Naples. The result is a soft centre and a chewy, lightly charred crust.
Traditional tomato and cheese combinations sit beside more elaborate meat, vegetable and vegan pizzas. The focused format lets the kitchen give close attention to fermentation, heat and the balance of toppings. Guests with allergies should request current ingredient information, particularly because flour and other allergens are handled throughout the pizzeria.
Coffee and soft drinks are available, while desserts can include tiramisu, panna cotta, gelato, sorbet and affogato. The bring your own drinks policy allows diners to choose their own beer or wine for the meal. Double 00’s identity rests on patient dough making followed by an extremely fast bake, a contrast that defines proper Neapolitan pizza.
