Fishbowl Brixton is a family run seafood restaurant on Atlantic Road, close to Brixton station and market. Founded in 2020 by a local family of Nigerian descent, it combines the communal spirit of an American seafood boil with African herbs and spices. A relaxed dining room, music and a creative cocktail list make the restaurant as much about sharing an evening as eating a single dish.
Seafood boil bags are the centre of the menu and can be prepared with different levels of heat. The prawn bag combines king prawns, shelled prawns, potatoes and corn, while larger selections introduce snow crab, blue crab, lobster tail or a whole lobster. Everything is coated in the house sauce, allowing the shellfish, vegetables and spice blend to be enjoyed together.
Other main courses include whole tilapia, sea bass, salt and pepper squid, calamari and king prawns with double cooked chunky chips. Mussels with garlic butter and noodles offer another substantial seafood choice. A soya bean nugget dish gives vegetarian guests a simple alternative when joining a group centred on the boil bags.
Cajun chips, sweet potato fries, rice, corn, garlic bread, salad and extra shellfish let diners enlarge or customise the table. Chocolate cake, orange cake, ice cream and apple crumble with custard provide familiar desserts after the spice and richness of the seafood. Cocktails complete the experience, with fruity and celebratory drinks designed to match the restaurant’s lively Brixton atmosphere.
