Hanoi Café is a female led, three generation family restaurant at 98 Kingsland Road. It has served Hoxton since 2000 and presents Vietnamese cooking as an expression of community and British Vietnamese family heritage.
Northern style pho is made with the family's beef bone broth, cooked for more than ten hours and finished with noodles, herbs and choices such as beef, chicken or duck. Spicy lemongrass and hot and sour broths provide brighter alternatives, while a vegetable version uses its own broth.
Bún bowls combine vermicelli, pickled vegetables, cucumber, fresh herbs, fried shallots and peanuts with grilled meat, seafood or tofu. Bún chả Hà Nội is a house speciality, while bánh mì, pork belly stew, coconut curries and claypot dishes extend the menu beyond soups and salads.
Vietnamese drip coffee with condensed milk, tea, beer and sake complement the food. Open daily for dining and takeaway, Hanoi Café offers a relaxed way to explore both familiar favourites and the more personal recipes of a longstanding family kitchen.
