Sharmilee Restaurant is a family-run vegetarian Indian restaurant and sweet shop at 71–73 Belgrave Road on Leicester's Golden Mile. The Gosai family founded the business in 1973, and the neighbouring restaurant was added in 1988 as demand grew beyond handmade sweets and savouries.
Gujarati food is an important part of the menu, joined by dishes from across India and some Indo-Chinese influences. Snacks such as pani puri, crispy bhajia and bhel lead into dosa, chana bhatura, pav bhaji, paneer curries and a wide selection of freshly prepared vegetable dishes.
Traditional mithai and Gujarati farsan remain central to Sharmilee's identity, made on site using family recipes and established techniques. The combination lets diners move from savoury street food and a full vegetarian meal into a broad choice of Indian sweets.
A buffet provides another way to explore the selection, and vegan and gluten free choices are available. Guests with allergies or medical dietary requirements should speak to staff before ordering, particularly about dairy, nuts, gluten and cross-contact between handmade products.
