Shish Turkish Restaurant is a casual charcoal grill at 23 Burdett Road, close to Mile End station. The restaurant serves generous Turkish and Mediterranean food for individual meals, families and groups, with the open grill supplying much of the menu’s smoke and savoury depth.
Cold meze include hummus, baba ganoush, cacik, tarama and aubergine with tomato and peppers, all suited to freshly baked bread. Halloumi, falafel, spicy beef sausage, cheese pastries, calamari and grilled wings add a varied selection of hot starters for sharing.
Lamb shish, chicken shish, Adana kofte, chops, ribs, wings and doner are seasoned and cooked over charcoal. Rice, bulgur, bread, salad and house sauces complete each plate, while large mixed grills combine several meats to simplify ordering for two or more diners.
Vegetarian kebab and moussaka, wraps, fish dishes and salads broaden the menu beyond the main grill selection. Baklava offers a traditional sweet finish, supported by tea and soft drinks, and collection or delivery makes the same meze, kebabs and platters available at home.
