The Keelman is a country pub and inn on Grange Road in Newburn. Set close to the Hadrian’s Wall walking route, it provides a relaxed stopping point away from the centre of Newcastle. The combination of food, drink and accommodation makes it useful for local meals, walkers and longer stays.
The kitchen follows a substantial pub format, with familiar British dishes, lighter options and changing specials suited to lunch or dinner. The menu is designed to work after a walk as well as for a planned family meal. Sunday service adds the traditional focus expected from a countryside inn.
Beer is particularly important because the pub is associated with Big Lamp Brewery. A range of locally brewed ales gives visitors a direct connection to the neighbouring brewery, while lager, wine, spirits and alcohol-free drinks provide alternatives.
