Txikiteo is a Spanish inspired restaurant and wine bar at 53 Frederick Street in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. From the team behind Tiger Bites Pig and Trentina, it takes its name from the Basque tradition of moving between bars for small glasses of wine and pintxos.

Coal fired cooking shapes both small and large plates, giving vegetables, seafood and meat a direct smoky character. Jamón Ibérico, boquerones, grilled sardines, lamb brochettes and blistered peppers sit naturally within a menu intended for sharing.

Larger choices can include pork chop with Pedro Ximénez sauce, rib steak or Spanish style rice with seafood, poultry or vegetables. Basque cheesecake provides a recurring finish, while other desserts may change with the kitchen’s seasonal ideas.

Spanish red, white, rosé, orange and sparkling wines are central to the experience, supported by sherry and other drinks chosen for the food. The intimate room is best suited to couples and small groups, and dietary concerns should be discussed with the team before ordering.

Address: 53 Frederick Street, Birmingham B1 3HS, England
