The Goat King is an intimate 24-seat Punjabi dining room at 27 Warstone Lane in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. Housed inside a former bullion factory, the restaurant is led by founder and chef Rav Ubhi and is designed around long, unhurried meals rather than rapid table turns.
Its Anglo-Indian approach, described by the restaurant as BrumJabi, brings Punjabi traditions together with seasonal British produce. Jhatka-prepared goat is central to the identity, joined by venison and wild boar that are cooked slowly to develop tenderness and deep flavour.
The menu is built for sharing and gathering, with richly spiced meat dishes balanced by vegetable preparations, breads, grains, chutneys and fresh accompaniments. This distinctive format feels closer to being welcomed into a personal dining experience than visiting a conventional curry house.
Advance booking is wise because the room is small, although walk-ins are accepted when space permits. Guests with allergies, intolerances, religious dietary requirements or other food preferences should discuss the current menu, meat preparation and kitchen practices directly with the restaurant before booking.
