Ek’s Kitchen is an independent Thai restaurant at 177 School Lane in Manchester. Its small dining room offers table service for lunch and dinner on selected days, while takeaway and delivery give local customers other ways to order from the same kitchen.
Hand rolled vegetable spring rolls, chicken and prawn toast and satay skewers introduce the menu through crisp textures and aromatic sauces. Tom yum combines galangal, lemongrass, lime leaves and chilli in a hot and sour soup that expresses the kitchen's more fragrant side.
Curries range from mild yellow and richer Panang styles to green curry, each using coconut milk and its own balance of herbs and spice. Pad Thai, basil stir fry and sweet and sour dishes add noodles and wok cooking to the selection.
Vegetable stir fries, several rice choices and side dishes make it straightforward to shape a meal for different preferences. Diners can share starters and curries across the table or choose a single main, with the casual service style suiting both approaches.
Address: 177 School Lane, Manchester M19 1GN, England
