Buns From Home began in a family kitchen during the first lockdown and opened its original bakery at 128 Talbot Road in Notting Hill. Founder Barney started by delivering pastries to neighbours with help from his brother Gabriel and a group of friends. The modest local project grew into a London bakery while retaining the handmade process that created its following.
Croissant dough forms the foundation of each bun, laminated with Normandy butter, rolled by hand and baked until the outer layers are crisp and the centre remains soft. Fresh trays come from the oven throughout the day, with batches refreshed every few hours. Customers can watch the bakers work in a simple shop designed around the pastry counter.
Cinnamon is the original signature, joined by fragrant cardamom and a twice baked pistachio bun. Changing weekend specials turn familiar desserts and seasonal ideas into filled laminated pastries, using combinations such as chocolate, caramel, fruit, custard or coffee. Mixed boxes make it easy to compare several flavours or share the selection with a group.
Savoury buns extend the same layered dough into richer cheese, herb and sandwich inspired combinations. Coffee provides the natural companion for a warm pastry, whether collected as part of a morning routine or weekend visit. Large orders and gift boxes allow the bakery to supply offices and celebrations while keeping the character of its original Notting Hill counter.
