The Willow Tea Rooms at 97 Buchanan Street offers a distinctive Glasgow setting for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Its interiors draw inspiration from Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the tea rooms created for the pioneering restaurateur Kate Cranston. The result is a calm city centre dining room where design and hospitality are closely connected.
The menu moves from cooked breakfasts and lighter morning choices to soups, sandwiches, salads and comforting lunch dishes. Scottish ingredients and familiar recipes give the food a strong local character, while daily specials provide variety beyond the regular selection. The service suits anything from a quick pause while shopping to a longer meal with friends.
Loose leaf tea is central to the experience, with different styles available to accompany both savoury food and the bakery selection. Traditional afternoon tea brings together finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and small cakes in a more leisurely format. Coffee, cold drinks and other refreshments make the room equally approachable for guests who are not planning a full tea service.
Home baking adds much of the tea room’s appeal, particularly for visitors stopping for scones, cakes or a simple sweet finish after lunch.
