Brother Thai Cardiff is a Thai roti bar at 35 Whitchurch Road. The business began in 2015 and opened its first permanent restaurant in 2021, building a focused dining format around rotis, rice bowls and an individual take on Thai street food. The Cardiff venue is dine in only, encouraging guests to experience the food fresh from the kitchen.
The signature sticky spicy beef roti captures the restaurant’s main idea: a crisp, flaky flatbread filled with deeply seasoned meat and bright garnishes. Thai fried chicken satay bowls offer a rice based alternative, while Khao Soi Gai Tod brings noodles, curry and fried chicken together as a Sunday special. The menu is compact enough to stay distinctive without limiting groups to one style of meal.
Big aromatic flavours run through the cooking, with chilli, herbs, citrus, sauces and contrasting textures doing much of the work. Guests can order several plates to share or choose an individual roti or bowl. There is no separate children’s menu, but the kitchen can prepare a smaller meal from ingredients already in use.
Cocktails continue the playful approach with drinks such as the Lychee Longtime and Tuk Tuk Tequila. The Cardiff restaurant also opens its outdoor garden during warmer months. Chicken is halal but beef is not, and guests with allergies or other dietary needs should discuss the current recipes with staff before ordering.
