Ginger & Clove Cardiff is a family run Indian restaurant at 72–74 Whitchurch Road. Founded by Mathew and Swapna, it draws particular inspiration from southern India and presents its food in a welcoming dining room for evening meals, weekend lunches and relaxed celebrations.
Starters such as Chicken 65, gobi Manchurian and samosa chaat bring together crisp textures, spice and tangy sauces. The range moves between Indian street food influences and dishes shaped by the family’s Kerala background, with food prepared freshly for service.
Kerala beef fry, nadan chicken curry and beef kizhi porotta give the menu a clear regional voice. Biryani offers an aromatic rice based alternative, while paneer butter masala, dal tadka and other vegetable dishes ensure there are substantial meat free choices.
Kerala porotta and other breads can be added for sharing sauces across the table, and the varied starters make a meal easy to arrange for a group. Guests with allergies or specific dietary needs should tell the restaurant before ordering and confirm ingredients in the current dishes.
