Bartons is an independent coffee shop and wine bar at 25 Dockhead in Bermondsey. Owners Steve and Barbara created it as a neighbourhood place where guests can arrive for breakfast, linger over coffee and stay into the evening. The warm interior, outdoor seating and private library provide flexible spaces for work, conversation, brunch or drinks.
Breakfast and brunch cover avocado toast, poached eggs, eggs Benedict, eggs Florentine and eggs Royale. Pancakes come with Nutella, yoghurt and fruit, bacon and maple syrup, or smoked salmon and cream cheese. Porridge, granola, a Greek yoghurt bowl and a colourful smoothie bowl offer lighter choices, while giant butter beans in tomato sauce turn toast into a more substantial meal.
Fresh sandwiches, toasties and wraps change at the counter throughout the day. In the evening, flatbread pizzas are topped with combinations such as goat cheese and red pesto, prosciutto and green pesto, or mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. Baked Camembert, bruschetta, hummus, olives, padron peppers, nachos and truffle fries create an easy selection for sharing over drinks.
The coffee list ranges from espresso and filter coffee to flat white, matcha and chai, supported by tea, coolers and fruit smoothies.
