Baruno is a Latin American restaurant and late night bar at 113–115 George Street in Edinburgh. Its colourful basement setting combines food, cocktails and music, moving from relaxed dining earlier in the day toward DJs and a livelier atmosphere later at night.
The antojitos selection is designed for sharing and includes coxinha, cheese filled pão de queijo, empanadas, fried cassava and other snacks inspired by Brazil, Colombia and the wider region. Tapioca and arepas bring naturally distinctive textures to the smaller plates.
Larger dishes travel across Latin America. Brazilian feijoada combines black beans, pork and smoked meats with rice, farofa and greens, while Colombian bandeja paisa builds a generous plate of beans, rice, sausage, plantain, avocado, arepa, pork and minced beef.
Rum, cachaça, tequila, mezcal, pisco and aguardiente shape a cocktail list with a strong regional identity. Churros and brigadeiro offer a sweet finish, and food service extending late into the evening makes Baruno as useful for dinner as for a social night out.
