Mistress of Mayfair is an intimate basement restaurant at 48 St James’s Street. The room combines Parisian inspired glamour with the energy of a late night London lounge, using rich colour, plush seating and low lighting to create a sense of occasion. Its modern Mediterranean menu carries a strong French influence and is arranged for sharing across the table.
Small temptations include oysters with mignonette or yuzu and ginger, Iberico ham with guindillas, caviar with blinis and chicken thigh nuggets served with sour cream. Cold plates move through yellowtail with wasabi and avocado, bluefin tuna with jalapeño ponzu, beef tartare with gochujang and burrata with caramelised figs. A lobster roll in brioche provides another rich opening choice.
Dishes from the flame include grilled octopus with yellow split pea, glazed carrots with dukkah, truffle rigatoni with Manchego and flamed prawns with escabeche. The larger selection covers sea bass, roasted cod, king crab linguine and whole lobster with orzo, alongside sirloin, chicken supreme, roasted duck and lamb chops. A5 Wagyu ribeye and côte de boeuf provide indulgent centrepieces for sharing.
House fries, charred broccoli, green salad and pommes purée complete the main dishes, while a separate dessert menu provides a polished finish. Champagne anchors the drinks list, supported by wine, spirits and classic cocktails chosen for their lasting appeal. Dinner continues into a lounge atmosphere, making Mistress as much a destination for an entire evening as it is for its carefully presented food.
