My Old Dutch Holborn is London’s original pancake house, established in 1958 on High Holborn between the West End, Covent Garden and the City. Its informal dining room has welcomed generations of families, students and visitors for relaxed meals built around pancakes served throughout the day.
Large savoury pancakes come with combinations such as bacon, chicken, ham, peppers, mushrooms, sweetcorn and cheese. Other choices draw on a full English breakfast, smoked salmon and eggs, spicy chorizo, Mediterranean vegetables or a selection of toppings chosen by the diner.
Sweet pancakes range from simple sugar and lemon to fruit, chocolate, caramel, ice cream and butterscotch creations. Small Dutch poffertjes, waffles, milkshakes and desserts provide further options, while bitterballen and fried cheese balls introduce familiar Dutch snacks.
Vegan, dairy free and gluten free pancake bases can be requested, although the restaurant clearly advises that it does not use a separate gluten free cooking area. Children’s menus, group arrangements and the warm atmosphere make the Holborn restaurant particularly suited to casual family visits.
