Obsession of India is an independent Indian restaurant at 25 High Street near Glasgow Cross. The kitchen’s guiding idea is to cook each order fresh with carefully selected local ingredients. Its comfortable, casual dining room supports family meals, dates and group visits, with takeaway and delivery available as additional services.
Pakoras and other appetisers lead into chef’s signature curries, familiar regional dishes and food cooked in the tandoor. Chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetables can be matched with sauces ranging from mild and creamy to hotter combinations of chilli, ginger, garlic and toasted spice. Rice and naan are ordered alongside to complete the meal.
A dedicated vegetarian section gives diners choices based on pulses, vegetables and paneer rather than a single generic curry. The restaurant can discuss dietary requests, but nuts, dairy, gluten and other allergens are used throughout the kitchen. Guests with allergies should explain their needs to staff before ordering so a suitable dish can be confirmed.
Beer, wine and soft drinks accompany the food, while set meals can help a group sample several starters and curries together. The made to order approach allows heat and preference to be discussed rather than treating every diner identically. Obsession of India offers a straightforward combination of bold spicing, familiar comfort and personal service in central Glasgow.
