Cowshed Liverpool is an independent steakhouse at 104 Seel Street. The restaurant describes itself as a house of beef, placing good steak, drinks and friendly hospitality at the centre of the experience. Its warm interior and evening led service suit dates, celebrations and groups that want a relaxed meal rather than a formal dining ritual.
Different cuts of beef allow diners to choose between tenderness, marbling and deeper flavour, with the kitchen able to advise on how each cut is best cooked. Sharing selections give a table the opportunity to compare steaks, while sauces, potatoes, vegetables and other sides complete the meal. Starters and changing specials extend the menu beyond the grill.
Meat free dishes and seasonal alternatives ensure that the restaurant is not limited to steak, although beef remains the clear speciality. Dairy, gluten and other allergens may appear in sauces, sides and shared preparation, so diners should check the latest menu and discuss dietary requirements with staff. Advance booking is sensible at busy weekend sittings.
Red wine is a natural match for the richer cuts, with cocktails, beer and alcohol free drinks offering other routes through the list. The service team’s guidance helps customers order an appropriate amount and choose accompaniments. Cowshed succeeds by keeping its purpose clear: well treated beef, generous food and an atmosphere that feels celebratory without becoming stiff.

Flat Iron 8oz
Comes from the shoulder blade of the cow. A tender and flavoursome cut of beef. Best served medium rare. Served sliced. Due to the structure of this steak, we are unable to serve it less than rare or past a medium cooking temperature, please ask your server for advice if unsure.
Rump 8oz
Comes from the bovine’s backside. Works harder than most other parts of the cow, leading to a greater amount of flavour. Best served medium rare. Served sliced.
Ribeye 8oz
Cut from the fore rib of the cow. The key to its flavour is marbling (little rivers of fat, that run through the beef). Best served medium rare.
Sirloin 12oz
From the hindquarter, known for its leanness, and flavourful, beefy taste, with marbling on its side. Best served medium rare.
The Greedy Cow(s)
Indecisive? Why not try our Flat Iron, Rump & Ribeye on one plate?
Fillet 8oz

Red Wines
Malbec/Shiraz, Las Manitos 12.5%
Central Valley, Chile. This ripe and lush wine combines vibrant and violet tones, smooth tannins and red fruit flavours with a delicate spicy finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon, El Picador 12.5%
Central Valley, Chile. Generously fruit-forward with soft tannins. Blackcurrant fruit leads to a full, ripe flavour and juicy tannins. Soft and easy at first, there is definite complexity and a nice sense of power.
Shiraz, Pitchfork 14%
South Eastern Australia. Bright with colour and aromas of plum and red currant over toasty mocha and spicy oak. The palate is full flavoured with plum, blueberry and mocha notes. The tannins are well balanced and give the wine great structure and length.
