Sravs Kitchen is a South Indian restaurant on Portswood Road in Southampton, with particular attention to the cooking of Kerala. The menu combines everyday comfort dishes with larger regional specialities, creating an inviting way to explore different textures, grains, spices and coconut based flavours.
A thali brings several elements together on one plate, such as pulao, chapati, dal, thoran, kadala masala, sambar, poppadum, a main dish and something sweet. This format offers a balanced introduction to the kitchen, moving between vegetables, pulses, breads, rice and contrasting accompaniments.
Dosas are another highlight, including generous versions designed for a substantial meal, while biryani provides an aromatic rice based alternative. Soups, aloo bonda, rasam and idli with sambar add useful starters and lighter choices, and help show the breadth of South Indian cooking beyond the most familiar dishes.
Desserts such as gulab jamun, pal payasam and banana dosa give the meal a traditional finish in several different styles. The combination of complete thalis, crisp dosas, warming soups and sweets makes Sravs Kitchen equally suited to a quick lunch or a longer dinner shared over several dishes.
