The Hunter S is an independent pub at 194 Southgate Road between Dalston and De Beauvoir Town. Its memorable interior blends a hunting lodge with an Art Deco lounge, combining oversized taxidermy, vintage furniture, a copper ceiling and an open kitchen in a lively neighbourhood setting.

Starters move between beef croquettes, saffron arancini, calamari, fried chicken, grilled prawns and pork belly bites. The kitchen balances familiar pub flavours with chilli, herbs and carefully made sauces, while seasonal vegetables and salads provide lighter ways to begin or share several plates.

Fish and chips, day boat fish, burgers and cauliflower steak sit among the larger dishes, with meat sourced from a local Essex Road butcher. Sunday roasts are a particular draw, bringing pork belly, chicken, beef, lamb or a mushroom pie to the table with roast potatoes, vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Sticky toffee pudding, homemade ice cream and changing desserts complete the food.
