Maramia is a homestyle Palestinian cafe and restaurant at 48 Golborne Road in North Kensington. Established in 2005, it brings family recipes and a warm Palestinian welcome to a colourful dining room near Portobello Road, with food designed to feel fresh, generous and comfortably familiar.
Hot and cold mezze include hummus, smoky moutabel, falafel and carefully seasoned salads, offering a varied introduction for the table. Arabic flatbreads are filled as sandwiches for lighter meals, while sharing several smaller dishes gives diners a broad taste of herbs, pulses, vegetables and grilled flavours.
Chicken mousakhan is a house speciality, layering grilled chicken with onion, pine nuts and sumac between thin pieces of homemade bread. Lamb fillet, grilled fish and mafoul with couscous, pumpkin, tomato and chickpeas continue the focus on family cooking and clear, aromatic seasoning.
Baklava, coconut rich basboussa and warm knafeh provide traditional endings, accompanied by fresh mint tea or wine imported from Bethlehem. Weekend set menus with music add another dimension to the Golborne Road restaurant, while the relaxed service suits both intimate dinners and lively group celebrations.
