Carmen Tapas is a Spanish restaurant at 6A Clapham Common South Side, opposite Clapham Common station. Named after Bizet’s opera set in Seville, it recreates the relaxed sharing style of a Spanish tapas bar in South London.
Cured Iberian and Serrano ham, Manchego cheese, tortilla española and patatas bravas anchor the traditional side of the menu. Croquettes, crisp calamari and meatballs in tomato sauce add warm plates that can be combined gradually as the table eats.
The small plate format works equally well for two diners or a larger group, allowing everyone to try more dishes than a conventional starter and main meal. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free choices are available, although allergy requirements should always be discussed with the team before ordering.
Spanish wine and a full bar complement the food, reinforcing the social character of the restaurant. Lunch at the end of the week, evening service and a welcoming approach to parties make Carmen suitable for anything from a quick shared meal to a longer celebration.
