The Midyeci is a Turkish and Mediterranean seafood restaurant at 505 Kingsland Road in Dalston. What began as a specialist takeaway has developed into a warm dine in restaurant and bar, retaining its focus on mussels while broadening the experience through meze, seafood, grilled dishes, street food and drinks for a relaxed meal with friends.
Stuffed mussels are the signature, offered individually or in larger portions for sharing. Each shell is filled with seasoned rice, creating a classic Turkish street snack that can anchor the meal or sit alongside mixed olives and sourdough. Fried mussels, sautéed mussels and a generous mussels feast show how widely the kitchen develops its central ingredient.
Small plates include hummus, cacık, carrot tarator, aubergine with tomato, grilled halloumi and Mediterranean salad. Calamari, prawn croquettes, scallops, fishballs and pan fried prawns extend the seafood selection, while mackerel, sea bass, sea bream and salmon appear as composed grilled plates with vegetables, potatoes or fresh sauces.
The street food section ranges from grilled fish sandwiches and wraps to fish kokoreç, mussel kokoreç, fish and chips and a mussel burger with fries. Grilled chicken, beef köfte and a vegetable plate with fava purée add alternatives away from seafood. Baklava and Turkish semolina dessert complete the meal, supported by Turkish coffee, rakı, beer, wine and cocktails.
