The Tea Rooms at Edinburgh Castle provides an elegant place to pause while exploring the historic attraction. Set in Crown Square near the top of the castle, it combines a stylish interior with memorable views across Edinburgh, making the setting an important part of the experience as well as a convenient stop during a visit.
Traditional afternoon tea is a central attraction, bringing together savoury bites, sweet treats and freshly baked scones served with preserves and clotted cream. Scottish ingredients give the selection a strong sense of place, while advance booking helps the kitchen accommodate dietary requirements where possible.
Visitors who want something less formal can choose from snacks and light meals, along with cakes, scones and barista prepared coffee. This range makes the tea room suitable for anything from a short refreshment break to a more leisurely meal built into a day at the castle.
The drinks offering includes Scottish single malt whisky flights and castle inspired cocktails alongside hot and soft drinks. High chairs and baby changing facilities make the venue practical for families, while its location inside Edinburgh Castle means diners should plan the visit around admission to the attraction.

Champagne Afternoon Tea
Served with a glass of La Garde Écossaise Champagne. Tasting notes: On the nose are aromas of white fruits such as peach and apricot, with a gentle citrus note. On the palate, delicate ripe stone fruits are complemented by green apple and brioche, creating the character of a truly superlative Champagne. History: Scotland’s famous Auld Alliance with France was forged through centuries of shared values and strategic interests. In the 1420s, 6,000 Scottish soldiers – the flower of Scotland’s youth – arrived in La Rochelle to fight alongside the French King Charles VIII against the English. Some would go on to fight with Joan of Arc, but many perished at the Battle of Verneuil in 1424. Their bravery and service were not forgotten, and the Kings of France later named their personal bodyguard La Garde Écossaise du Corps du Roi – the Scottish Guard to the King.
