Lobo is a neighbourhood restaurant at 758 Pollokshaws Road on Glasgow’s Southside. Its identity centres on the relaxed dining culture of the Mediterranean, translated into a compact, energetic room where the food is intended to be passed around the table rather than treated as separate formal courses.

The kitchen works through a changing collection of sharing plates, using the Mediterranean as a broad source of flavours rather than restricting itself to one country. The format allows vegetables, seafood and meat to receive equal attention, and gives diners the freedom to combine lighter bites with more substantial plates.

House focaccia with anchovy butter and hash brown patatas bravas are recurring favourites, while other menus have moved through fried cheese, gnocchi, roast potatoes, fish and slow cooked meat. Because the selection evolves, the best approach is to choose across the menu and let contrasting sauces, textures and cooking styles build the meal.

Wine and cocktails are an important part of the experience, with non alcoholic choices providing another route through the drinks list. Lobo works especially well for couples or small groups happy to share, ask the team for guidance and discover several dishes rather than ordering a conventional starter and main.
