Arepa & Co – Bethnal Green is a Venezuelan restaurant at 254 Paradise Row beneath the railway arches. The flagship location combines an industrial dining room, outdoor tables, a cocktail bar and a private mezzanine in a relaxed setting near Bethnal Green station. Arepas, cachapas and pabellon bowls place corn, black beans, plantain, avocado and slow cooked meats at the centre of the menu.
Arepas are round gluten free cornbreads with a lightly crisp exterior and soft centre. The Pabellon filling combines shredded beef, black beans, ripe plantain and cheddar, while Mariana uses chicken mixed with mayonnaise and avocado. Crisp pork belly, slow cooked brisket and vegetable combinations with aubergine, beans, avocado and plantain provide further savoury choices.
Cachapas are sweetcorn pancakes folded around fillings such as grilled cheese, pork belly, shredded beef or chicken. Pabellon rice bowls arrange many of the same flavours over rice, with beef, pork, chicken or a vegetable sofrito. Yuca fries with paprika salt, grilled Venezuelan cheese, fried plantain, mini arepas, black beans and palm heart salad work as sides or dishes to share.
Weekend brunch adds cachapa stacks, eggs and larger arepa combinations, while vegetarian and vegan choices appear throughout the menu. Tres leches cake, chocolate tequeños and tropical ice cream provide rich or fruity endings. Homemade lemonade, guava and passion fruit juices, Venezuelan drinks and rum inspired cocktails complete the colourful, sociable experience.
