Blacklock Manchester Menu

Blacklock Manchester is a steak and chop house hidden beneath a Grade II listed former textile warehouse on Peter Street. The basement setting gives the restaurant a cosy, characterful feel that connects naturally with the building’s industrial history. Its central position beside Albert Hall also makes it a convenient choice before a show or an evening elsewhere in the city.

The kitchen works closely with British farmers and uses dry ageing to develop flavour in its beef. Steaks range from leaner cuts to richly marbled options, while pork and lamb chops are cooked over charcoal using vintage Blacklock irons. A whole animal approach means trimmings and less obvious cuts are used across dishes rather than allowing the menu to revolve only around premium steaks.

Sharing is a major part of the format. The All In combines beef, pork and lamb chops over grilled flatbread, while large prime rib, porterhouse and bone in sirloin cuts can anchor a meal for two or more. Lighter starters, flame cooked vegetables, salads, beef dripping chips and a choice of sauces give diners room to build a balanced table.

Sunday changes the rhythm entirely, with whole joints roasted over open coals and served with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables and gravy. Cocktails, wine on tap and nostalgic puddings add to the chophouse atmosphere throughout the week. The result is generous British cooking presented with knowledgeable service and relatively little formality.

Address: 37 Peter Street, Manchester M2 5GB, United Kingdom
