Dusit Thai Restaurant is an independent Thistle Street dining room opened by Pom and his team in 2002. It has developed its reputation through attentive service, a relaxed atmosphere and contemporary Thai cooking. The compact New Town setting feels suited to both a focused lunch and a longer evening meal away from the busiest central streets.
The kitchen combines high quality fresh local produce with herbs, spices and Asian vegetables imported from Thailand. Curries, stir fries, soups and grilled dishes use the contrast between fragrance, heat, sweetness and acidity that defines much Thai cooking. Seafood, meat and vegetables are treated with the same attention rather than placed into one standard sauce.
A seasonal lunch menu offers a concise two course experience, while the full à la carte selection is also available. Collection takeaway provides another way to use the restaurant, and a small private room accommodates up to eight guests. Families with very young children should note the venue’s restrictions after 8pm when planning a visit.
The fully licensed dining room offers wine and other drinks chosen to complement aromatic and spicy food. Guests should discuss allergies and preferred heat levels with the team when ordering. Dusit’s identity comes from balancing the ingredients of its Scottish location with the distinctive seasoning and produce of Thailand.
Address: 49A Thistle Street, Edinburgh EH2 1DY, United Kingdom
