Filishack – Filipino Street Food is a casual Filipino restaurant at 130 Peckham Hill Street in Peckham. Brothers Jonathan and Justice developed the business from a market stall and food truck before opening this permanent shop, bringing their take on familiar Filipino flavours to a neighbourhood setting. The concise format makes it suitable for a quick lunch, an evening meal or takeaway.
Chicken inasal is a central choice, made with boneless chicken thigh marinated for twelve hours with garlic, onion, lemongrass, soy, sugar cane vinegar and annatto before flame grilling. It can be served in a rice box with garlic rice, fresh salad and a choice of sauces, creating a meal that balances smoke, savoury depth, acidity and gentle sweetness.
Beef adobo offers slow cooked, pull apart meat in a rich adobo sauce, while chicken adobo provides another version of the classic soy and vinegar based preparation. Both fillings can be ordered over rice or wrapped in a burrito with garlic rice, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and onion. Loaded Filishack fries add a more indulgent base for chicken inasal or adobo.
Diners can build a rice box, burrito, portion of loaded fries or salad around their preferred filling. Crispy tofu and courgette give vegetarian and plant based diners substantial alternatives, while garlic mayonnaise, sriracha, house hot sauce and sweet chilli allow each order to be adjusted.
