Kitchen W8 is a Michelin starred neighbourhood restaurant at 11–13 Abingdon Road in Kensington. Opened in 2009 with the intention of becoming a home from home, it combines polished cooking and service with a warm atmosphere suited to lunch, dinner, celebrations and regular local visits.
Chef Mark Kempson builds dishes around local and seasonal ingredients, often bringing wild produce into the kitchen when it is at its best. Wild garlic, woodland mushrooms, hedgerow fruit, game and British seafood can appear across the year, shaped through classical combinations and occasional Mediterranean influences.
The à la carte menu allows guests to choose individual courses, while tasting and set menus provide more structured ways to experience the kitchen. Sunday lunch adds roast beef and Yorkshire pudding alongside selected restaurant dishes, balancing tradition with the precision expected from a dining room that has held a Michelin star since 2011.
Desserts and British cheese continue the seasonal focus, supported by a considered wine list and knowledgeable recommendations from the front of house team. Friendly, efficient service and an understated dining room allow the quality of the ingredients and cooking to remain central to the occasion.
