Light of India is an established Indian restaurant on Gloucester Road in Kensington, sharing its address with the Montana Hotel. Founded in 1984, it offers an elegant setting for lunch, dinner, family meals and occasions close to Gloucester Road station.
The kitchen concentrates on Northern Indian cooking, including breads and marinated ingredients prepared in the tandoor alongside meats and vegetables slowly cooked in seasoned sauces. These traditions reflect the Mughal influences that helped shape the cuisine of northern India.
Head Chef Kumar works with fresh ingredients, spices ground in house and carefully prepared marinades. Traditional flavours are combined with selected international techniques, allowing the kitchen to present familiar dishes with a considered contemporary approach.
Guests can choose from the main selection, tasting menus, lunch thalis and a pre theatre menu. Dedicated vegan, vegetarian and Jain choices broaden the range, while the Lion’s Bar and curated wine list offer drinks selected to complement the spices and aromatics of the food.
