Sacro Cuore is a traditional Neapolitan pizzeria at 45 Chamberlayne Road in Kensal Rise. Open since summer 2012, it concentrates on reproducing the pizza style of Naples through the same ingredients, preparation method and type of oven used in the city where pizza was born.
The pizza list begins with the simplicity of marinara and margherita, then adds combinations such as spicy salame and chilli, anchovies with olives and capers, or sausage with friarielli. A filled calzone brings together tomato, mozzarella, ricotta, ham and Neapolitan salame.
Starters stay close to the same southern Italian character, including home baked focaccia, bruschetta, aubergine parmigiana and Puglian burrata. Salads provide something lighter, while vegetarian pizzas built around vegetables, cheese or classic tomato bases are well represented.
Homemade tiramisu, Italian gelato, affogato and a Nutella pizza form a concise dessert selection. Wine, Peroni, coffee and digestifs accompany the food, and takeaway service is available alongside reservations for the compact neighbourhood dining room.
