Terry’s Cafe is a London institution on Great Suffolk Street in Southwark, founded by Terry in 1982 and now carried forward by his son Austin. The café celebrates traditional British food with carefully sourced ingredients from Smithfield and Billingsgate markets, Monmouth coffee and respected local bakeries. Its nostalgic dining room, friendly service and expanded bar space give a familiar café format extra character.
The all day breakfast menu includes a standard plate of fried egg, bacon, Cumberland sausage, baked beans and tomatoes, with extras such as black pudding, mushrooms, bubble and squeak and fried bread. A vegan breakfast combines plant based sausage, chips, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms. The Billingsgate breakfast adds fresh scallops, eggs, bacon, black pudding, spinach, hollandaise and sourdough.
Award winning sandwiches are served on fresh bloomer bread with British butter. Choices include double sausage with onions, a classic bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich, Terry’s Club with chicken, bacon, egg and cheese, and a homemade cod fish finger sandwich. The Reuben layers hot salt beef with Emmental, gherkins and sauerkraut for one of the most substantial lunch options.
Jam sponge with hot custard and sticky toffee pudding continue the focus on comforting British favourites. Breakfast rolls, croissants and other pastries suit a quicker visit, while coffee, tea, juices and soft drinks cover the daytime service. The adjoining Bar & Grill adds craft beer, wine and classic cocktails and also allows Terry’s to host private evening events.
