Pyro is a Greek restaurant in Borough led by chef Yiannis Mexis. Drawing on the food of his childhood and experience in Michelin starred kitchens, he uses open fire cooking to combine Greek flavours with carefully selected British seasonal ingredients.
The menu moves from colourful crudos and small plates to generous grills intended for the centre of the table. Meat, fish and vegetables are cooked over flame, with smoke and char used to deepen flavour while keeping the character of each ingredient clear.
Guests can build their own meal from individual dishes or leave the selection to the kitchen through the Chef’s Selection. Greek salad, spanakopita, smoked aubergine, vegetable souvlaki and larger grilled plates show how familiar ideas are reworked with modern technique and presentation.
Cocktails draw inspiration from the Greek land and sea, while the wine list highlights producers from Greece alongside bottles from elsewhere. The main restaurant is joined by Baráki, a covered terrace and garden bar that brings music, drinks and a more informal atmosphere to the same Southwark Street address.
