The Barony Bar is a historic Edinburgh gastropub at 81–85 Broughton Street. The business began as a drinks merchant in 1896 before developing into a pub, and its restored interior preserves a strong sense of that long connection to the city.
Mahogany woodwork, high vaulted ceilings, brewery mirrors, open fires and hand painted nineteenth century tiles give the taproom a distinctive Victorian character. The location is close to the city centre and Waverley station, yet the atmosphere remains that of a well established local pub.
The food is rooted in familiar pub cooking with a Scottish accent, combining substantial main plates with seasonal specials. Classic comfort dishes and desserts make it a practical stop for lunch or dinner as well as a destination for a drink.
Real ale, wine, whisky and other pub drinks support the food menu, with the bar suited to casual visits and social gatherings. Food is served daily. Diners with allergies or intolerances should ask staff about current ingredients and shared kitchen preparation before placing an order.
