The Porterhouse Covent Garden is a large independent pub at 21-22 Maiden Lane, established by its family owners in 2000. Three main floors, several mezzanines and distinct bars create plenty of space for dining, drinks, live music and sport, while more than thirty taps showcase craft beer, stout and porter.
Small plates include crisp calamari, halloumi fries, chicken wings and an aubergine parmigiana skewer. The generous spice bag combines seasoned chips, crisp chicken, peppers and spring rolls with curry mayonnaise and sweet chilli, while a mezze plate brings hummus, feta filled peppers, olives and flatbread together for sharing.
Pub favourites include beer battered haddock with chips, roast chicken Caesar salad, chicken shawarma and pork schnitzel. Beef, fried chicken and vegan burgers provide substantial choices, and the pizza selection ranges from Margherita to pepperoni with jalapeños and hot honey, with vegetable and vegan options also available.
Basque cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and warm cookie dough provide rich finishes, while traditional roasts are added on Sundays. The food is supported by beer brewed in Dublin, Irish whiskey, gin, cocktails and wine, with live bands in the basement and numerous screens adding to the venue’s sociable character.
