The Welcome Restaurant is a family run Chinese restaurant at 22 Stranmillis Road in Belfast. The Wong family opened its first Welcome restaurant in 1973 and established the Stranmillis venue in 1982, creating a long standing local destination for Cantonese and Hong Kong style cooking.
The menu encourages shared dining, with dumplings, prawn toast and other starters leading into seafood, meat, tofu and vegetable dishes. Breaded king prawns and pork belly dumplings show how familiar ingredients are used across both crisp appetisers and softer steamed or pan cooked preparations.
Main dishes include choices such as Ma Po tofu and monkfish, alongside a broad selection of traditional restaurant favourites. Rice and noodle dishes make it easy to complete a meal for one, while larger groups can order several contrasting plates for the table.
Second generation family members continue the restaurant’s hospitality, and takeaway service is available as well as eating at the venue. Diners with allergies or dietary restrictions should discuss the current menu with staff because soy, shellfish, sesame and gluten may appear across sauces and shared dishes.
